Cachoeira de Cardoso

Coronel Cardoso Waterfall is one of the most sought-after destinations in Valença, ideal for those seeking fresh air and impactful landscapes. The place impresses with the very strong intensity of the waterfall and by offering, after a short five-minute trail, a beach-like feeling, with an extensive stretch of sand along the riverbank. Also known as Cachoeira da Usina, the site holds an interesting history linked to the region's infrastructure. In nineteen twenty-six, a hydroelectric plant was founded there, which used the force of the waters to generate energy and supply the region for a long time. Today, the plant is deactivated, but the waterfall remains a landmark near the borders between the states of Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais.
